It seems the about pages for categories here on Discourse are like #federated-wiki pages, and you should jam pack the first sentence for what the category is about, and assume that the first sentence will be read sort of out of context, and used while trying to choose an appropriate category when creating new topic.
For example, this is what is shown for #systems-thinking and #systems-changes currently. As you can see, very little context is provided about what those categories are about/for.
