Making focused on outcome; Growing focused on process (Tim Ingold)

Tim Ingold has made distinctions about making and growing (for about 20 years!). In a recent web video lecture, he refers back to Martin Heidegger’s “Building Dwelling Thinking”.

The easier way to absorb these ideas is to watch the video. I’ve written a short excerpt digest at https://daviding.wordpress.com/2020/12/06/2020-07-13-making-growing-thinking-tim-ingold/

(Tim Ingold typically writes up his lectures, delivers them, and then revises them for publication a few years later).

We might also reflect on this distinction as systems change (by funders) as focused on outcome, whereas producing the reality of systems changes focuses more on process.

My appreciation for this orientation is growing and it has influenced not only our project, but also my personal life in positive ways. So thank you for continuing to build upon this more nuanced view with resources like these.
